Healing Through Grief: The Unexpected Path to Hope, Freedom, and a New Identity
Updated: Jul 23
"Pain is often the doorway to purpose."
Years ago, I wrote about what I called VIP -The Value In Pain.
At the time, I believed that every painful experience carried a lesson waiting to be discovered. Looking back now, I realize God was preparing me to understand something even deeper.
For months, I've been asking Him one simple question:
"Lord, who have You truly called me to serve?"
I wasn't asking for a new marketing strategy or a better business plan.
I was asking for my mission.

One morning, after prayer, grounding, sitting in stillness, and moving my body slowly, I sensed God speaking to my heart.
He wasn't showing me what I should teach.
He was showing me who I am here to help.
The answer was so clear that it brought tears to my eyes.
Women who are carrying grief.
Not only the grief of losing someone they love.
But the grief of losing themselves.
Healing Through Grief Begins by Recognizing the Many Faces of Loss
When we hear the word grief, we often think of death.
But grief wears many faces.
It is grieving the marriage you believed would last forever.
It is grieving the business you poured your heart into that isn't growing the way you imagined.
It is grieving your health after a diagnosis.
It is grieving the woman you were before menopause changed your body, your sleep, your confidence, and sometimes even your identity.
It is grieving children who have grown up and no longer need you the same way.
It is grieving dreams that never came true.
The truth is...
Every one of us is grieving something.
Some grief is visible.
Most of it isn't.
What If the Opposite Is True?

As I reflected on the women whose lives have changed the most through our work together, I noticed something.
They all came carrying grief.
Many believed they couldn't let it go because they were afraid a part of themselves would disappear too.
Maybe you've felt that.
Maybe you've wondered...
"If I let go of this pain... who will I be?"
Then another question came into my heart.
What if the opposite is true?
What if the pain you've been carrying is not what keeps you alive...
What if it's what has been keeping you from fully living?
What if healing through grief isn't about forgetting your story but finally allowing your story to become the place where hope begins?
The Identity We Build Around Our Pain
This is something I've learned through my own journey.
We don't only carry grief.
We begin to identify with it.
We become...
The divorced woman.
The woman who was betrayed.
The woman whose children left home.
The woman whose body changed.
The woman who always struggles.
The woman who never catches a break.
Without realizing it, grief slowly becomes our identity instead of an experience we've walked through.
And that's where we become stuck.
Because if my identity is built around my pain...
Who am I without it?
That question can feel terrifying.
But it can also become the beginning of freedom.
Healing Through Grief Means Running Toward the Pain, Not Away From It

Most of us spend years trying to escape uncomfortable emotions.
We stay busy.
We overwork.
We overeat.
We scroll.
We numb ourselves.
We pretend we're okay.
Anything but feeling what hurts.
But healing asks something completely different of us.
It invites us to stop running.
To become curious.
To sit quietly with the pain instead of pushing it away.
To ask,
"What are you trying to teach me?"
That is what I believe true inner work is.
Not fixing yourself.
Not pretending you're stronger than you are.
But having the courage to sit with the younger version of yourself who still carries wounds she never learned how to heal.
The sad little girl.
The frightened woman.
The exhausted soul.
Not with judgment.
But with compassion.
Rock Bottom Is Often Where the Light First Appears
I've learned that healing rarely begins when everything is going well.
It begins when we stop pretending.
When we stop painting over the cracks.
When we stop burying our emotions beneath achievement, perfection, or busyness.
Sometimes healing begins at rock bottom.
Because rock bottom strips away everything that isn't real.
It leaves us face to face with ourselves.
And although that can feel frightening, it is also sacred.
Because the moment we stop hiding from reality...
The first ray of light begins to shine.
You Cannot Create a New Life from an Old Identity

This has become one of the greatest truths in my own life.
You cannot build the life you've been praying for while holding onto the identity created by your pain.
You'll continue repeating the same patterns.
Choosing the same relationships.
Making decisions from the same fears.
Living inside the same story.
Nothing changes until identity changes.
Healing through grief is not about becoming someone different.
It's about letting go of the version of yourself that was built in survival mode so the woman God created you to be can finally emerge.
God Never Wastes Our Pain
If you're reading this today while carrying grief, I want you to know something.
Your grief is real.
Your loss matters.
Your tears are seen.
But your pain does not have to be the final chapter of your story.
I believe God is able to redeem every broken place.
Not by erasing your past...
But by transforming the way you carry it.
Your greatest pain may become the place where your deepest compassion, strongest faith, and clearest purpose are born.
That has certainly been true in my own life.
As difficult as my own season of divorce has been, I can now see that God wasn't simply leading me through an ending. He was revealing my calling.
Through my own grief, He has shown me that my mission is to walk beside women who are navigating life's deepest transitions and help them rediscover hope, freedom, and the identity He lovingly created for them.
If You're Ready...
If you're exhausted from carrying emotional baggage that feels heavier every year...
If you're tired of surviving instead of living...
If you're ready to discover who you are beyond the pain...
I would be honored to walk alongside you.
Through a Neuro-Emotional Alignment session and an InnerVoice Total Body Scan, we'll gently explore emotional patterns that may be keeping you stuck and begin creating a path toward greater clarity, peace, and healing.
Because I don't believe you are broken.
I believe you are becoming.
And I believe healing through grief can become the unexpected path to hope, freedom, and a new identity.
You don't have to walk it alone.
We are better together.
